THE MELIÁ CENTURY HOTEL IS A LANDMARK OF TIMELESS ELEGANCE AND AGELESS BEAUTY
Designed and Built under Spanish sovereignty in 1895, the hotel legacy communicates the history and growth of the city in four different eras: 1895, 1915, 1949 & 1960.
An architectural jewel considered a museum in and of itself for its intrinsic beauty. Built in three stages, by three architects in three different eras. The first and most important expansion in 1915 by Arch. Alfredo Wiechers Pieretti with neoclassic and modern styles. The hotel lobby shows elegance and tradition with its polished wood paneling, marble floors, natural ventilation and 13’ high decorative ceilings.
The second, in 1940, by Arch. Francisco Porrata-Doria, still showcased traces of the neoclassic and colonial style and yet emphasized the emergence of concrete and pillars providing a great balconied façade that highlighted and enclosed the new courtyard.
